With special friends like Bob Kauflin, Ed Nalle, (GLAD), and "the kids", Marcy & David recorded a delightful Children's Musical. Marcy wrote the lyrics & songs. Bob K collaberated and arranged the music. Glad did the rhythm-tracks. The kids in our church performed all the vocals. (Kids love to hear other kids singing). And David was a angel.
The Lord gave us the idea because of the needs we were seeing in our Children's Ministry to involve the kids and Jr. High kids in a special project. With the Lord's blessing, it turned out GREAT!! So many people were involved. It's really a GREAT musical. It teaches so many practical lessons. Some adults have told us that they secretly listen to it when the children aren't in the car. When we asked why some of our people buy more than one copy on a regular basis, they said, "Our kids wear it out." Until the advent of the internet, sales were limited to our concerts and word of mouth. Now that the CD is available and we can take orders online, they'll be able to make their own tape copies for the car or kids rooms and keep the CD as a master.
WAYS TO USE Real Things With Kids
Since each dialog section/song teaches something different, for cell groups and kids celebrations, Real Things can be played in sections each week and then topics discussed with them. Radio stations can broadcast Real Things as a series of daily or weekly episodes.
This musical is great for community outreach as well. Involve your church kids with their friends from the community and then invite the their famillies to the performance. Real Things has been successfully executed by Christian schools, churches, VBS's, and camps utilizing from 15 to 80 children. The results have been unanimously positive and effective. Soundbites are not yet available but are coming.
